The New York Times on the front page published a photo of the farewell of the border guard with his family at the station in Kramatorsk. After a year of separation and a short vacation together, they again had to say goodbye.
According to the GNSU, at the railway station of Kramatorsk, Yana and her daughter said goodbye to her beloved husband Alexander. The family, like hundreds of other families, was torn apart by the war.
At the train, they were approached by two men who introduced themselves as journalists from the New York Times and offered to take a photo.
Family parting moment hit the front page
The couple smiled, but agreed, and later the couple saw their photo from correspondent Daniel Berehulak on the front page of the American edition of the New York Times.

Spouses of border guards
Border guard officers – Alexander and Yana served together in Kramatorsk. In February 2022, realizing the danger, Yana left for the safer Khmelnitsky region with a small child.
Since then, they hardly saw Alexander.
Recently, Yana and her daughter came to Kramatorsk on vacation to spend time with her beloved husband and father. However, the vacation quickly passed, and the family again ended up at the station, where they were met by correspondents.
