On the morning of January 18, Interior Minister Denis Monastyrsky died in a plane crash in Brovary. Together with him, the first deputy and secretary of state of the department died.

After the death of the leadership, the question arises of who will take on the duties of the head and how the appointment of a new minister will proceed. These questions were answered on the air of the national telethon by the head of the parliamentary committee on law enforcement, Sergei Ionushas.Sergei Ionushas said that according to the procedure, after this tragedy, an acting minister would be appointed. In such cases, the leadership of the department was supposed to pass to the first deputy, however, as you know, unfortunately, the first deputy of Monastyrsky, Yevgeny Enin, also died in Brovary.

Therefore, one of the other deputies will act as the Minister of Internal Affairs the late Denis Monastyrsky. However, it is not yet known who exactly.

At the same time, the press secretary of Prime Minister Denys Shmygal, in a commentary to the Public, said that an extraordinary meeting of the government would be held on January 18, where an interim acting minister of internal affairs would be appointed.

Based on the words of Ionushas, ​​it can be noted that that one of the 5 deputies of Monastyrsky – Bogdan Drapyaty, Mary Hakobyan, Sergey Goncharov, Ekaterina Pavlichenko or Igor Bondarenko will act as head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

When the new minister will be appointed

Ionusas also explained that the procedure for appointing a new minister is also clear. First, the candidacy of the new head of the department is considered by the relevant committee – that is, the committee on law enforcement.

After that, the committee will select a candidate put forward for a vote in the Verkhovna Rada. And it is the people's deputies who will decide whether to support the candidate proposed by the committee or not. After a positive decision of the deputies, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will receive a new head.

Regarding exactly when Ukraine will receive a new minister, Ionusas noted that it is still impossible to accurately predict, because first you need to find a person who could adequately replace the late Denis Monastyrsky with This post.

Recall that as a result of the crash of the State Emergency Service helicopter on the morning of January 18 in Brovary, 16 people died, including 3 members of the State Emergency Service crew and 6 representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including the leadership of the department – Minister Denis Monastyrsky, First Deputy Yevgeny Enin and State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Yuri Lubkovich.
