The ISS explained what will happen if Putin is not arrested after the warrant
On March 17, the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and children's rights ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova. They are suspected of illegal forced transfer of Ukrainian children.
As the speaker of the International Criminal Court, Fadi El-Abdallah, said on the air of the telethon, Ukraine may demand the arrest of Putin and Lvovo-Belova on the territory of those countries that recognize the decision of the international criminal court.
At the same time, Fadi El-Abdallah noted that the International Criminal Court cannot hold hearings in the absence of a suspect. This means that until Putin is detained, the case will not move on.
But we will try to solve this case with the help of other countries that recognize our decisions, – said the representative of the International Criminal Court.
As Fadi El-Abdallah explained, this court has the right to investigate such cases, because the Ukrainian authorities sent a request with materials to conduct this investigation.
“And this allowed the investigation of this case. The investigation has begun. Our prosecutor has launched an investigation, and today we announced that there are grounds for issuing an arrest warrant for Putin and Belova for the illegal deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia,” El-Abdallah said. .
Curious! According to him, 123 countries recognize the legitimacy of the International Criminal Court. Russia is not among them.
But this decision gives more rights to Ukraine, which recognizes the decision of the ISS, than to Russia. Therefore, in the legal field, Ukraine can now operate with this decision, the representative of the International Criminal Court explained.
We add that on March 17, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin. Now the Russian president has the official status of a suspect in an international crime – the illegal deportation and displacement of Ukrainian children.
Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President, noted that the decision of the ISS is only the beginning. Ukraine systematically cooperates with him. Yermak emphasized: now Putin and Lvov-Belov will be arrested on the territory of countries that have ratified the Rome Charter.
