Warsaw will provide Kyiv with MiG-29 fighters, but is not going to stop there. So, to defeat Russia and liberate our territories, Ukraine needs modern F-16 fighters.

This was told to Channel 24 by a Polish public figure and scientist Ryszard Kupidura. He added that the Poles are not afraid that due to the transfer of MiG-29 fighters to our state, the level of Poland's defense capability will be reduced.

This is only the first step, the main goal is F-16

The fact is that after February 24, 2022, Poland began to develop a law “On the Defense of the Motherland”. It was adopted in April 2022. The law provides for the modernization of the Polish army, in particular, the purchase of new fighters.

Consequently, our friends and partners can afford the transfer of such aircraft as the MiG-29. Moreover, this is not the final goal, because Ukraine needs much more modern aircraft.

The fact that Poland is handing over MiG-29s is very good, since Ukrainian pilots will be able to master and use them right away. However, this is only the first step . We already know how the tank coalition was built and we remember that this is not a decision of one day, but a process,” the Polish public figure emphasized.

In his opinion, the aviation coalition will be formed in the same way. Unfortunately, this process is extended in time. In addition, the United States said the day before that Poland's decision to transfer the MiG-29 to Ukraine is its “sovereign decision” and does not prompt President Joe Biden to provide Ukraine with American F-16 fighters.

“This is a process. The main goal is the transfer of the F-16 to Ukraine ,” the Polish public figure emphasized.

Cupidura also expressed confidence that our state will receive the modern F-16 fighters necessary for defeating Russia. He added that everything in the West happens through negotiations.

Why Ukraine needs the F-16

Ukraine has long wanted to get modern American F-16 aircraft. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine explained that these fighters are ideal for our country because of their versatility – they combine the functions of four aircraft that are in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Yuriy Ignat, spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, noted that the F-16 fighter can strike ground targets with various types of weapons, and also become part of Ukraine's air defense.

Air Force Magazine noted that the F-16s have become effective against cruise missiles that Russia massively attacks Ukraine. At the same time, thanks to new radars, fighters will be able to track more targets at longer ranges and with greater accuracy.
