The Pentagon claims that the F-15 and F-16 fighters are sent to Poland for exercises, and not because of Ukraine
The US armed forces have deployed several dozen of their F-15 and F-16 fighters to Poland for joint exercises, and this has nothing to do with the situation on the border between Russia and Ukraine. At least that's what Vice Admiral John Kirby, a Pentagon spokesman, says.
“These are standard exercises, not a specific reaction to what is happening on the border with Ukraine or in Crimea,” the head of the US Department of Defense's press service assured reporters at a briefing.
Kirby stressed that this is a “quite routine” operation, the US military department, in his words, “does it all the time.”
“As you know, we have a rotational presence in Poland, which we greatly appreciate and welcome. It's part of this rotational training element, ”he continued to reassure the press.
Earlier on Monday, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said that the US European Command had deployed “several dozen American F-15 and F-16 aircraft” to the republic. According to his version, the command “is practicing the rapid transfer of the air force in Europe, using, in particular, Polish airfields,” TASS reports.
We will remind, as the website kp.ru wrote, earlier the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the movement of Russian troops across the territory of the Russian Federation should not bother other countries, since it does not threaten them in any way. He also noted that the events in Donbass are an internal Ukrainian conflict, in which Russian troops have never taken part.
