The Russians are losing command of the paratroopers, so they are recruiting reserve officers for short contracts

Russia is losing many officers in the war against Ukraine/General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

< strong _ngcontent-sc90="">The Russian army command is not very successful in using officers in the war against Ukraine. Consequently, it is forced to recruit people who are in reserve for leadership positions.

Airborne troops in every army in the world are considered elite. It takes a lot of effort, time and money to prepare them. Therefore, they are used in special operations when it is necessary to quickly and effectively carry out a military operation that is beyond the power of conventional ground forces.

But the Russian army is far from this theory. Therefore, it uses landing troops as ordinary manpower. And the Russian paratroopers are dying no worse than the rest of the Russian invaders. As of June 20, 33,800 Russian troops have been killed in Ukraine. There are many officers among them.

According to the available information of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as a result of significant losses in the command staff of the airborne troops, the enemy is forced to recruit reserve officers for military service with the conclusion of short-term contracts for a period of three months.

This is not the first time the Russian army has resorted to to such actions because of their losses in the war against Ukraine. However, before that, short-term contracts for three months were offered mainly to ordinary military personnel. In Russian cities, mobile military registration and enlistment offices were located, calling to join the army. And job search sites in Russia were filled with advertisements for vacancies in the army.

At the same time, in addition to a short contract term, Russia also decided to simplify the form of conducting the psychophysical selection of future candidates. But then this did not work either.

This time it came to the officer corps, where the leader, who signed a contract for three months, should command the paratroopers in a short time.

It is worth adding that before that in Russia they also raised the age limit for signing a contract for military service. If earlier it was 60 years old, now contracts can be signed by those who are not yet 65 years old.
