A new bill has been submitted to the upper house of the US Congress. In accordance with it, Russia is qualified as a state sponsor of terrorism.

It was prepared by senators representing both parliamentary parties. Democrat Richard Blumenthal and Republican Lindsey Graham. If the document is adopted, it will allow filing lawsuits in the US courts for Moscow's actions in Ukraine.

Introducing the bill, Senator Blumenthal explained its necessity and relevance by killing Ukrainian civilians and other manifestations of cruelty that accompanies the Russian invasion of Ukraine .

The second co-sponsor of the bill, Senator Graham, stressed that the inclusion of Russia in the list of state sponsors of terrorism would be a strong indication of American support for both Kyiv and other US allies. At the same time, according to him, this will allow imposing tough sanctions against Russia.

At the same time, it is not known when the bill will be put to a vote.
