The Soyuz rocket launched the Fregat upper stage with 36 OneWeb satellites into orbit
The Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle launched the Fregat upper stage along with 36 OneWeb spacecraft into a suborbital flight trajectory, follows from the broadcast on the Roscosmos website.
The launch vehicle was launched at 12.40 Moscow time from the Vostochny cosmodrome. The third stage of the rocket, as follows from the broadcast, has already successfully separated from the bundle.
It is noted that further launching of satellites into a target orbit with an altitude of 450 kilometers will be carried out using ten maneuvers of the Fregat upper stage, for which this flight became the 101st in history.
So, already by 16:32 Moscow time, the OneWeb satellite constellation in orbit will increase to 358 vehicles. Later they will be taken over by the operator – the company of the same name OneWeb. The satellites will carry out further transfer to orbit with an altitude of 1200 kilometers using their own engines.
The OneWeb devices are designed to create a space communication system that will provide high-speed Internet access anywhere on Earth.
