The State Duma approved in the second reading the bill on free access to socially significant sites

On Wednesday, June 16, the State Duma of Russia in the second reading adopted a draft law on the provision of free access to Russian socially significant sites.

The document supplements the law on communications with a provision according to which services are provided to subscribers without charging additional fees to provide access to “sites included in the list of domestic socially significant sites in the information and telecommunications network Internet.” The corresponding list of Internet sites will be determined in the order established by the government.

According to the amendments introduced earlier to the bill, the list of socially significant Internet resources will include the websites of state bodies, local authorities, state non-budgetary funds of Russia, as well as a portal of state services. The rest of the socially significant resources will be determined by a special government commission.
