Based on NATO’s statements about the transfer of documents on security guarantees to Moscow, they do not contain an answer to any Russian concern, said Vyacheslav Nikonov, first deputy head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, RIA Novosti writes.
“Only pointless demands and proposals to talk in a discredited Russia-NATO format,” he assessed the ideas of the West.
The response from the North Atlantic Alliance on the proposals for security guarantees was handed over to the Russian Ambassador in Brussels. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the North Atlantic Alliance and Russia have a number of serious disagreements. He invited Moscow to resume the work of the representative offices, as well as to continue the dialogue within the framework of the Russia-NATO Council.
In addition, NATO proposed to establish a direct line of communication, to continue discussing disarmament and arms control. Stoltenberg called the restoration of the mission in Moscow one of the options for dialogue.
