The stepmother, who filmed the mortal torment of her 3-year-old stepson, was sentenced: how long does she have behind bars
The incident happened almost two years ago.
In Jacksdale, in Nottinghamshire, UK, a 23-year-old stepmother filmed her 3-year-old stepson as he lay dying on the floor.
The incident took place on August 7, 2021. Then the woman recorded on video how the child writhes in pain as a result of a terrible head injury. She sent footage to the baby's father instead of calling an ambulance.
Then the woman claimed that the child allegedly fell off the chair himself. However, medical experts found many injuries on the boy's body, including a broken skull and arm. Leila was accused of beating her 3-year-old stepson, who also had autism.
On March 16, the court delivered its verdict. According to the Daily Mail, Layla Borrington was sentenced to 15 years in prison for manslaughter.
The jury was shown footage taken by Layla, in which a small boy lay on his right side and moaned with his arms outstretched in front of him. The stepmother took the boy's left hand, lifted it up and dropped it on the floor, and then continued filming him lying motionless on the living room carpet.
Recall that in Australia, a three-year-old boy tragically died after his father accidentally ran over him with a lawn mower. The child was seriously injured by the machine's knives.
