The United States proposed to allocate hundreds of millions of dollars for military assistance to Ukraine

A group of American senators has prepared a bill on partnership with Ukraine, in which it has proposed to allocate hundreds of millions of dollars for military assistance to Kiev. This was reported on the website of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

The bill provides for the provision of military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of up to $ 300 million annually, including the supply of lethal weapons. It is also proposed to accelerate the supply of surplus defense products to Ukraine and encourage US partners to do the same. In addition, Washington will allocate another $ 4 million for the training of Ukrainian officers under a special US program.

The document also provides for the creation of a special working group on Ukraine in conjunction with European allies and the appointment of a US special envoy for Ukraine, who will represent Washington in the Normandy format talks.

Earlier it became known that NATO will revise the Comprehensive Assistance Package to Ukraine, approved in 2016. According to the report of the Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, they want to harmonize the new package “with the current needs of Ukraine.” Its revision will be completed in 2021.
