The USA named the five most dangerous ships of the Russian Navy

The publication of the American magazine The National Interest named the five most dangerous ships of the Russian Navy, which “cannot be underestimated” as “they have serious firepower.”

First on the list is the Project 1144 Orlan, a heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser Peter the Great, which is “the largest surface combat ship in the world”. The publication states that the main purpose of such heavy missile cruisers “is to pursue and neutralize American aircraft carriers.”

The second “dangerous ship” in the publication is the Project 1164 Atlant missile cruiser Moskva, which, like Peter the Great, is also designed as an “aircraft carrier killer”, but with great emphasis on efficiency.

The third ship on the list of The National Interest is the Project 20380 Soobrazitelny Guards Corvette, equipped with the Packet-E / NK system, which “has no analogues in the world in the sense that it allows launching” a small-sized thermal torpedo from the same installation (MTT) and the M-15 anti-torpedo rocket.

The fourth in the list of the magazine is the Project 956-A Sarych destroyer “Persistent”, armed with “formidable” supersonic low-altitude anti-ship cruise missiles P-270 “Moskit”.

Last on the list is Project 1143.5, the only Russian aircraft carrier under repair, Admiral Kuznetsov, which “remains a serious threat to the Kremlin's rivals as it gives Russia much more room to project its aircraft around the world.”

In May, TASS, referring to materials published on the public procurement website, reported that the outer surfaces of Admiral Kuznetsov, currently being repaired in the Murmansk branch of Zvezdochka, are scheduled to be painted by September 1, 2022.

In December 2019, The National Interest called “Admiral Kuznetsov” and other Soviet cruisers of Project 1143 “Krechet” “just a piece of rust.”
