Washington does not intend to discuss security in Europe without European allies. This was announced by First Deputy Secretary of State of the United States Wendy Sherman, RIA Novosti reports.

She stressed that the United States will discuss a number of bilateral issues with Russia as part of a dialogue on strategic stability, but European security issues will not be addressed without European partners.

In addition, Sherman added that the discussion of some issues will be postponed until the meeting of the NATO-Russia Council in Brussels on January 12 and until the meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna on January 13.

Earlier, US State Department spokesman Ned Price revealed the details of the first Russian-American meeting on security guarantees, which took place in Geneva.

On January 9, a meeting took place in Geneva, preceding the official negotiations between the Russian Federation and the United States on security guarantees. It lasted over two hours.
