The WHO questioned the disappearance of the coronavirus in 2021

Melita Vujnovich, the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Russia, questioned the disappearance of the coronavirus in 2021. She announced this in an interview for Naili Asker-zade's film “Dangerous Virus. The First Year” on the Russia 1 TV channel, TASS reports.

Vujnovic expressed the hope that the pandemic can be stopped next year, but she believes that the world will not get rid of the infection soon. “What is a pandemic – it means the simultaneous illness of many people around the world. But the virus will stay with us. I am afraid that we will not get rid of the 'crown' so soon, ”she said.

According to Vujnovic, vaccines currently being developed will not lose their effectiveness with mutations of coronavirus infection. She added that mutation of the virus is normal. “It is very important to understand that not every change in the genome of a virus means a change in its behavior,” she stressed.

On December 15, Vujnovich spoke about the phenomenon of low mortality rates in Russia against the background of a large number of infected. She noted that Russia ranks fourth in the world in the number of detected cases of infection, but due to the good performance of the health care system, a relatively low mortality rate is observed. A similar situation is developing in Germany and some other countries.
