Ukrainian authorities are doing their best to evacuate people from Mariupol. There is a trend when the occupiers allow people to leave the city in their own cars, but prevent organized evacuation.
Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk explained why this is happening. According to her, the situation in Mariupol as a whole is now the most critical, channel 24 reports.
Russians allow people to leave the city in their own cars in order to suppress the will of the Ukrainian authorities with this form of behavior . After all, we agree on humanitarian corridors, but these agreements are not respected. They constantly break down, people are forced to walk. They want to create a background against which the authorities will be forced to react emotionally,” Vereshchuk explained.
She assured that this would do nothing for the invaders.
“We will be steadfast, we understand their tactics and we ask people to take care of themselves as much as possible and get out as soon as possible, because there was evidence that for some reason some people from Mariupol did not want to go when they were offered it,” she said.
Vereshchuk also reminded that on March 27 one humanitarian corridor was opened to Mariupol. Now there are 15 buses going there. People are collected on the Melitopol highway and taken to Zaporozhye.
