Third wave of coronavirus begins in Greece

Experts' data indicate that the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic begins in Greece. This was stated by the head of the country's Ministry of Health Vasilis Kikilias on the air of a local TV channel, the newspaper “Katimerini” quoted him as saying.

According to Kikilias, the incidence has especially increased in the Attica region, where the country's capital is located. This, in turn, suggests the need to introduce more stringent restrictions.

The publication reports that the analysis of wastewater showed that in the week from January 29 to February 5, the RNA content of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus increased by 205 percent.

According to the latest data from the Johns Hopkins University project, there have been 164,575 cases of coronavirus infection in Greece. For all the time, 5,997 deaths from complications caused by the disease were recorded in the country.
