Trump condemned the riots in Washington

The current US President Donald Trump condemned the riots that took place in Washington on January 6. RIA Novosti reports.

The American leader called the United States a “nation of laws.” “We believe in respecting American history and traditions, not in destroying them. We believe in the rule of law, not in riots, ”he said.

Earlier, Trump accused the Antifa movement of storming the Capitol. He shared these conclusions in a telephone conversation with the leader of the Republicans in the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy. The congressman objected to Trump's accusations against Antifa, saying that he personally witnessed the riots and saw that supporters of the current president participated in them.

The storming of the US Capitol building took place on January 6 during a rally of supporters of the incumbent head of state, who do not recognize the results of the November vote, which resulted in the election of Democrat Joe Biden as president. The rallies led to clashes with the police. Five people died, dozens were detained.
