Turkey to introduce round-the-clock curfew on New Year's holidays

The Turkish authorities have decided to introduce a round-the-clock curfew for the New Year holidays. Residents of the country will be banned from idly walking the streets from December 31 to January 4, the Daily Sabah newspaper writes.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced at a press conference in Ankara the imposition of a curfew, which will begin at 21:00 on December 31 and end at 05:00 on January 4.

The head of state noted that the results of the previously adopted restrictive measures due to the coronavirus are already visible. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, 1.8 million coronavirus cases have been identified in Turkey. Died 16.4 thousand people.

As a reminder, from November 30, Turkey introduced a curfew on weekdays from 21:00 to 05:00 and around the clock on weekends.
