Ukraine has updated the record for the number of medals at the Paralympic Games
On the eighth day of the 2022 Winter Paralympic Games in Beijing, the Ukrainian team won three more awards.
The piggy bank of blue-yellows was replenished with one gold and two bronze medals.
Alexandra Kononova won gold in the middle-distance cross-country freestyle (standing class). Another Ukrainian Irina Bui took bronze in the same discipline.
Another bronze spill was brought to our team by Dmitry Suyarko in the middle distance race (class of visually impaired athletes).
Thus, the Ukrainian Paralympic athletes now have 28 medals : 10 gold, 10 silver and 8 bronze.
In the medal standings of the 2022 Winter Paralympics, the Ukrainian team is in second place. The leadership continues to be held by China – the Paralympic athletes of this country have already won 58 medals (18-18-22).
Interestingly, Ukraine has already updated the record for the number of awards received during one Paralympic Games. Never before have Ukrainian Paralympic athletes received so many awards.
Before the final two days of the 2022 Paralympics, Ukraine already had 25 medals. This figure was a repeat of the record: in 2006 and 2014, Ukrainian Paralympic athletes took the corresponding number of awards. Now 28 medals have been won.
Ukraine can still improve the medal result of the 2022 Paralympics, because the final day of the Games in Beijing is ahead.
