Ukraine has applied for an accelerated entry into NATO. Experts are convinced that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are fulfilling a mission for which the Alliance has been preparing for 70 years. When Ukraine can be accepted into NATO, read the expert's assumptions in the article.

Piontkovsky noted that during the speech Zelensky emphasized the most important thing – Ukraine is already de facto member of NATO.

He explained that the main obstacle to Ukraine's entry into the Alliance over the past 15 years has always been that the West was not ready to fight and die for the independence of our country. After all, this would be the responsibility of the North Atlantic Alliance.

According to him, now the West, after 7 months of the war, has realized that they do not need to die for Ukraine, and the Ukrainians will cope with the Russian army themselves.

All that Ukraine needs in NATO membership is unlimited arms support. That is, almost the same as now, but already completely without restrictions and prohibitions. This is NATO membership. And how to use these weapons – the Ukrainian army will figure it out on its own, – the publicist said.

He noted that in general, Ukraine should now see if it will accept someone into a real North Atlantic security organization.

Piontkovsky explained that for 70 years NATO has been preparing to fulfill its sacred duty to protect the civilizational world of the West from the eastern horde.

“Who performs this function now? The Ukrainian army. For 70 years, Europe has been thinking that NATO is good, but everything depends on the United States, so they needed a European army. But they did not succeed. And then suddenly a million-strong European army appeared – Armed Forces of Ukraine,” he replied.

The publicist added that now all these questions are NATO is now put differently, for example, which of the NATO countries today deserve to be together with Ukraine in the Alliance.

Piontkovsky noted that Zelensky's statement (on joining NATO – Channel 24) is no longer a statement of a timid supplicant, but a statement of the master of European security .

After all, every world war ends with the victorious states creating a new security system. And in this war, the victorious country is Ukraine, Great Britain and the USA, as well as the Baltic countries,” he summed up.

When Ukraine is accepted into NATO

Piontkovsky replied that this would happen the day after Russia's capitulation . “Then Ukraine will be admitted to NATO within a few hours,” he said.

Applying to join NATO: the essentials

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that our country is applying for NATO membership under a shortened procedure. The head of state, together with the head of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk and Prime Minister Denys Shmygal, signed the relevant document.

As of October 2, 10 countries, that is, a third of the Alliance, have already supported Ukraine's membership, in particular, they expressed their support – Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Canada.

Ukraine, together with international partners, is working on a bilateral treaty that would provide security guarantees during the transitional period of NATO membership . It is too early to talk about the results, but the process continues.

Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov said that our state is already joining the Alliance – we are deepening cooperation on defense issues.

Political scientist Andrey Vigirinsky told that the application for Ukraine's membership in the Alliance caused hysteria in the Kremlin. The reaction of the Russians is limited only to angry and absurd statements. However, as of today, the Kremlin has absolutely no tools to somehow respond to such a decision by Kyiv.
