Ukraine is not negotiating with the West about the upcoming “peace plan” with Russia – Zelensky
Zelensky about negotiations
Western countries are pushing Ukraine towards peace talks with Russia on unfavorable terms. But the Ukrainian authorities do not agree to them.
This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at a meeting with journalists, Channel 24 reports. According to him, no peace talks are taking place at the moment.
Ukraine is not holding “peace talks”
I have no negotiations on any peace plans, such negotiations are at zero level today. Everyone really wants to push us as much as possible towards some result, definitely not desirable for us, because we have not been asked yet, but beneficial for certain parties that have their own interests. Again, different: both financial and political,” Zelensky explained.
He added that war weariness is growing, people want some kind of result for themselves. And the Ukrainians will only be satisfied with the result that will be beneficial to us. But he has not had such conversations yet.
At the same time, Zelensky believes that Ukraine should work “with all European states, world states.”
Negotiations between Ukraine and Russia
- Ukraine first tries to resolve the war through diplomacy, but Moscow puts forward only threats and ultimatums. In particular, the Kremlin cynically stated that they want Kyiv to make territorial concessions.
- Earlier it became known that negotiations between the delegations of Ukraine and Russia were not taking place. The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that the mass and bloody atrocities of Russians in the Kyiv region became the point of no return.
- The Office of the President noted that Russia again wants to sit down at the negotiating table, but the Ukrainian delegation emphasizes that so far the parties have nothing to negotiate because of the situation at the front.
- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the end of May proposed four-party talks to resolve the war in Ukraine. Turkey and the UN can become intermediaries between Ukraine and Russia.
- David Arakhamia said that Ukraine will continue negotiations when it receives the weapons promised from partners. This, in his opinion, will make the position of our state in the negotiations more stable.
