Elections to the bodies of the UN system under the auspices of ECOSOC were held on April 13. For the first time, Ukraine was nominated to the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues for the period 2023-2025.

Member Permanent Forum on Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine will be the representative of the Crimean Tatars Suleiman Mamutov. He won by an overwhelming majority of votes, beating the representative of Russia.
Ukraine will make every effort to preserve the rights and freedoms of indigenous peoples, including those in the temporarily occupied territories, within the framework of this forum.
As part of the Forum, the Ukrainian side will continue the process of implementing the collective rights of indigenous peoples and will develop recommendations for the full application of the provisions of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. – said the Foreign Ministry.
In addition, Ukraine was also elected to the Commission on the Status of Women and the Commission on Social Development for the period 2023-2027. They are important platforms, in particular, for countering the crimes of a terrorist country. Ukraine will work to ensure women's rights and promote social protection in wartime and peacetime.
