What is the situation at the front as of May 20/General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Enemies continue offensive operations in the Eastern Operations Zone. The most difficult situation is in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

The situation at the front on the morning of May 20 is reported in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The enemy is advancing near the settlements of Lisichansk and Severodonetsk, Luhansk region.

The situation at the front

Our military is successfully carrying out counteroffensive operations in the Kharkov region. The Russians, on the other hand, are trying to focus on holding on to the few lines they have managed to take. Moreover, they still hope that they will be able to restore those positions that they have lost and are trying to carry out counterattacks. Also, Russian infidels are intensively using UAVs to reconnoiter the situation.

In addition, fighting continued in the area of ​​​​the settlements of Ternovo and Vesele. The enemy was shelling near Russian Tishki. In the Donetsk direction, the Russians are actively conducting their sneaky assault and offensive in order to improve the tactical situation. They fired from mortars, cannon artillery, multiple launch rocket systems and operational-tactical aviation. So they wanted to destroy our fortifications along the entire line of confrontation.

Directions of the struggle in Donbass

Donbass became the main theater of operations at this stage of the war. The General Staff reported that in the Severodonetsk direction the enemy was conducting assault operations near the settlement of Severodonetsk. The attempts of the Russians were unsuccessful, they suffered losses and retreated. Fighting continues in the area of ​​the Toshkovka settlement.

On the Bakhmut directionthe Russians carried out offensive operations in the area of ​​u200bu200bthe settlement of Viskriva, in which they were helped by artillery and mortars. At the same time, they made attempts to improve the tactical position of their units near Vladimirovka and Vasilievka. Russian infidels suffered losses in the area of ​​the village of Alexandropolye.

Also, having enlisted the support of artillery in the Avdeevsky direction, the Russians advanced near the village of Veseloe. The APU inflicted damage on them and they retreated.

Russian shelling

In addition to the fact that the Russian invaders are advancing, they are also firing at civilians. The General Staff reported about the next crimes of the Russians. In the Kurakhovsky direction, artillery shelling of civilian infrastructure from multiple launch rocket systems was massive. But the offensive in the areas of Novomikhailovka and Aleksandrovka was a failure for the enemy.

In the Novopavlovsk and Zaporozhye directions, the enemy hit infrastructure and civilian households with fire from rocket and cannon artillery and mortars. The Russians also carried out a counter-battery fight. Near the village of Novodarovka, the enemy suffered losses and retreated to positions that they had taken earlier. Over the past day in the Donetsk and Luhansk directions, our defenders repelled 14 enemy attacks. It was possible to destroy 8 tanks, 14 armored vehicles and 6 vehicles of the enemy. Air defense units shot down one Orlan-10 UAV.

Russian losses and attacks

• During the attack on Severodonetsk 19 May killed 12 people. Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the President's Office, stated that the Russians were beating the city, knowing that the civilian population would suffer. He does not believe that they have enough troops to storm or encircle the city.
• The head of the Lugansk OVA, Sergei Gaidai, reported that during the day on May 19, Russian infidels fired at many houses in the region, resulting in massive fires. In some places entire streets burned out, as in Nirkovo – 5 housing estates in a row.
• At the same time, our defenders inflict crushing losses on the invaders. By the morning of May 20, it became known that 28,700 Russian occupiers had already been eliminated. Also, the enemy loses a lot of equipment.
