Ukrainian government websites hacked through one IT company – media

In order to carry out a centralized cyberattack on the websites of the Ukrainian government, they used one private IT company that developed all these web pages.

Thus, according to Economic Truth, we are talking about the Kiev IT company Kitsoft (Computer Information Technologies LLC).

She specializes in product development for businesses and government agencies.

– The scenario of an attack on government information resources is reminiscent of the 2017 cyberattack through the MEDoc software. It is preliminary known that the attacked government websites were built on CMS October by Kitsoft. She is also engaged in the development of new and modernization of existing Diy components on the Unified State Web Portal of Electronic Services, the publication writes.

According to media reports, the cyber attack was implemented due to a vulnerability in the October CMS website content management system, which was discovered back in May 2021.

It is clarified that the Kitsoft website was not working during the outage in the same way as the pages of government agencies.

Through the cached version in Google, one could see that Computer Information Technologies LLC was engaged in the creation of Internet resources for almost 40 government agencies, institutions and organizations.

Nikita Knysh, founder and director of the HackControl cybersecurity consulting agency, meanwhile said that the cyber police were warned about big problems with the cybersecurity of state resources.

“We warned that in the event of a war, there would be reports of mining institutions, organizations, and critical infrastructure facilities in the same way,” Knysh said.

He clarified that all this is part of a hybrid war, and repeats what already happened in 2014.
