“We have lost two million lives, including dear members of our UN family. The death toll continues to rise, ”Guterres said. He also drew attention to economic problems, unemployment, hunger, climate change and geopolitical tensions.

Guterres warned of the risk of nuclear and chemical proliferation. He called on UN member states to “put the world on track” and come to restoring peace and prosperity.

Earlier, UN Secretary General António Guterres said that the coronavirus pandemic has led to the worst economic crisis in a century. He drew attention to the existence of inequality between people and countries, which was highlighted by the pandemic.
