Unidentified persons have taken hostage visitors to a restaurant in Vienna. RIA Novosti reports about it with reference to the Austrian media.
This is the Japanese restaurant Akakiko on Mariahilfer Street in the seventh district. The number of people held by the criminals is still unknown. The police are checking the establishments.
Earlier on November 2, unknown persons opened fire near a synagogue in the center of Vienna. According to preliminary information, one of the attackers was eliminated, and the second is on the run. The police admitted that seven people could have become victims of the attack. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) of Austria did not rule out that the attack could be a terrorist attack.
In total, about 50 shots were fired near the synagogue, firing from a machine gun. A series of attacks took place in several places in the city center – restaurants, a synagogue and a Jewish center. Law enforcers urged residents of the city and tourists to avoid public places and transport.
