US accused Russia, Iran and China of trying to influence elections

William Evanina, director of the US National Center for Counterintelligence and Security, said Russia, Iran and China were trying to influence the US elections in 2020. RIA Novosti reports about it with reference to The Washington Post.

“I looked at intelligence every day: from Russia, China, Iran and others. And I saw the threat. I believe that all three countries were interested in interfering and tried to influence our elections, ”Evanina said.

According to him, Russia is the first in the list of threats in connection with the elections, but China “is also playing its game.” At the same time, he noted that he himself was not personally a witness, victim or participant in any attempts to interfere.

The planned release of the intelligence community's report on foreign interference in the 2020 elections, scheduled for December 18, has been delayed. According to the head of the strategic communications department of the US national intelligence Amanda Schoch, the special services have not yet completed the preparation of the report.

Russia has been repeatedly accused of interfering in the 2016 US elections. Local journalists and officials claimed that “Russian hackers” had stolen Democratic correspondence and published it on the Internet, and also tried to infiltrate the electronic counting system.
