US students suspected of intending to contract COVID-19 for the sake of earnings
The private religious University of Brigham Young in Idaho suspects its students of trying to deliberately become infected with COVID-19 in order to then earn money by donating blood plasma containing antibodies, the CBS television channel reports.
As specified, the university believes that individuals deliberately tried to infect themselves and others with coronavirus in the hope of getting sick in order to get money for blood plasma, which contains antibodies.
The educational institution threatened to remove from classes and even expel all students who tried to get infected on purpose.
The channel notes that there is a plasma reception center next to the campus, which offers volunteers $ 100 for donating blood. At the same time, you can take it several times in a row, while antibodies remain in it.
According to Johns Hopkins University, the number of people infected with COVID-19 in the world has exceeded 38 million people. The largest number of infected people is in the United States (over 7.8 million), India (over 7 million) and Brazil (over 5 million).
