The first flight of the Kratos UTAP-22 Mako drone with the Skyborg “computer brain” took place at the Tyndall base of the US Air Force (Air Force).

According to Voennoye Obozreniye, this is an early version of an intelligent autonomous piloting system. In general, both the drone itself and the software are being developed simultaneously under the Skyborg program. By the way, the software can also be used in manned aircraft to reduce the workload on pilots.

Skyborg is capable of taking off, landing and flying on its own at a given course. In addition, the “computer brain” can assess the situation during the battle and make decisions.

In the future, the system will be tested not only on Kratos UTAP-22 Mako, but also on unmanned aerial vehicles from Boeing, General Atomics and Kratos.
