Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won his home Formula 1 Grand Prix in Zandvoort ahead of Lewis Hamilton on Sunday and took the championship lead away from the Briton. In the first premier class race on the converted track in 36 years, the Dutchman celebrated his seventh win of the season in front of 70,000 Oranje fans. Overall, the 23-year-old now has 17 wins, while World Championship title holder Hamilton has to wait for his 100th.
A week after the success in the rain farce at Spa, Verstappen won the 13th World Championship round of the year in good weather, ahead of the Mercedes duo Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. His lead over Hamilton before the next outing in a week at Monza is three points.
