We are not far from the third world, - Vučić predicts escalation due to the decision of The Hague on Putin

The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin. He is accused of kidnapping Ukrainian children. Aleksandar Vučić suggests that this decision could cause an escalation.

The President of Serbia noted that the world is “rolling into an additional escalation.” And that against the backdrop of Putin's arrest warrant, Belgrade's position in Ohrid will be more difficult.

ICC decision complicates matters

“It is likely that the world is sliding into an additional escalation of the conflict and an acceleration of the conflict,” Vučić said.

He voiced these words during his address to the Serbs on Chiry Milekic Square as part of his visit to the Srem region. The President noted that certain things are happening in the world and that Serbia is in great danger. At the same time, he added that not everything can be voiced in public.

He noted that the West has shown by its actions that it will go to the end, and that it is not too worried about a possible escalation of the conflict. According to Vučić, both sides will play to get all or nothing. This means that they will go to the end, and that the consequences will be much worse.

It also means that the West wants to put additional pressure on everyone who has not been the most aggressive against Russia. Just look at how the attitude of Turkey and, to some extent, Hungary, our friends, has changed in just the last three days. Suddenly, both are for Finland in NATO, the Turks stop refueling American-made aircraft under the Russian flag. he remarked.

Vučić stressed that the Serbs will have to think about every step they take in the future. In addition, they need to be more responsible and serious. He also noted that he was afraid that “we are not far from the beginning of the third world war.”

Briefly about the warrant for the arrest of Putin

  • Note that the decision was made by the International Criminal Court in The Hague on March 17. He issued a warrant for the arrest of Vladimir Putin.
  • Also, the pre-trial chamber II issued an arrest warrant for Maria Lvova-Belova. Recall that she is authorized by the President of Russia for children. She and Putin are accused of kidnapping Ukrainian children from the occupied territories.
  • The ICC stressed that they have sufficient reason to believe that both Putin and Lvova-Belova are responsible for a war crime.
