The Politico edition published an article in which it noted that the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will begin in May and predicted 2 possible scenarios. However, now we can only say that Ukraine needs the next months to accumulate the resource.

Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, told Channel 24 about this. He stressed that the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine should be a surprise for the enemy, so there should be less discussion about exactly when it will take place.

Thus, the Armed Forces need certain tools for successful counter-offensive actions, which must be accumulated. Our command understands how long it will take from a logistical point of view.

In addition, even the military does not need to spell out what priority areas or counteroffensive scenarios are. Ukraine is very creative and proved it many times during the war. In particular, in the Kharkiv region or in what is happening now in general along the front line, especially in the Donetsk direction.

The main thing is that both the military leadership – in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense, and the political leadership, first of all I'm talking about Vladimir Zelensky – have an absolutely consolidated position that we cannot stop somewhere in the middle. We need counteroffensives at a certain time. And this requires a concentration of resources, – explained the adviser to the head of the OPU.

Our command is preparing for different scenarios and takes into account all the risks. Therefore, Ukrainians should react less to hype topics and wait for developments.

“We have no other chance than to go on a counteroffensive at a certain time according to a certain scenario . Otherwise, there will be no statehood of Ukraine. Stopping somewhere in the middle, as it was in 2014 – when the territories remained under Russian occupation – will mean that after a while Ukraine will not exist as a state,” Podolyak stated.

Indeed, today Russia at various levels, including Vladimir Putin, fixes its position: “Ukraine must be destroyed as a state and territory where Ukrainians live.”
