There are at least two large military airfields in the occupied Crimea, where strategic aviation is present, including Tu-class aircraft, Channel 24 writes .

Radio Liberty journalists analyzed the airfields that Russia uses in Crimea for the war against Ukraine. It was reported that the 43rd Fighter Aviation Regiment of the PKS of Russia is based at the first-class airfield in the city of Saki.

It includes Su-30SM, Su-33 aircraft and Su-24M bombers. Previously, there was a base of the Ukrainian Navy at the airfield in Saki.

The garrison of Russian aviators is located in the village of Novofedorovka, where the “clap” took place on August 9th. As a result of the “clap”, from 8 to 24 Su-24 and Su-30 aircraft were destroyed.

Belbek airfield

There are also large military airfield Belbek, which was mentioned above. In March, the Ukrainian Air Force informed that the Su-27, Su-27SM, Su-30M2 and Su-27M are based at the Belbek airfield.

After reconstruction in 2020, this airfield can also receive Tu-22M3, Tu-160 and Tu-95MS strategic bombers. According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, from the territory of the Black Sea, these aircraft fire missiles at the Lviv region.

Experts say that such aircraft have armed cruise missiles that are capable of covering distances of up to 5.5 thousand kilometers.
