Mutations of coronavirus infection continue in the world, in connection with which humanity will face new dangerous strains of SARS-CoV-2, said the Director General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adan Ghebreyesus during a briefing in Geneva.

“Four options of concern have emerged, and more will emerge as the virus continues to spread,” said the head of WHO.

The rapid growth of coronavirus infections in the world is caused primarily by the Indian version of Delta, the director general of the organization said.

As the website kp.ru wrote, according to Gebreyesus, the Delta coronavirus strain has already been identified in 132 countries of the world. He said that in five of the six regions of the organization over the past month, the incidence of coronavirus has almost doubled.

Meanwhile, scientists have announced the ability of the lambda strain of the coronavirus to hide from immunity.
