Yaroshenko's defense will ask the American court to reduce the sentence
The lawyer of the Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko, Alexei Tarasov, said that the defense of the Russian intends to go to court with a request to reduce the term of imprisonment, TASS reports.
“We intend to send a petition to the court to reduce the term of Yaroshenko's sentence. My client remains at risk due to the complication of the coronavirus pandemic. At Danbury Prison, the situation is deteriorating again. In the near future we will send a petition and hope that the court will satisfy it and release Konstantin ahead of schedule, ”he said.
Recall that in 2011, Yaroshenko was sentenced in the United States to 20 years in prison on charges of preparing to transport a large consignment of cocaine. He is in Dunberry Prison, Connecticut.
The Russian denies guilt and considers the case to be fabricated. In July, lawyer Alexei Tarasov said that Yaroshenko's defense expects to join a class action against the administration of the Danberry prison in order to secure the release of a Russian citizen.
