A scandal erupted in Ukraine around defense procurement of products for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After that, criminal proceedings were opened, inspections were carried out, and a bill on the transparency of defense procurement was submitted to the Rada.

A number of officials also reacted to the scandal, including Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov. On January 25, Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny commented on the outrageous purchases for the first time.
